How many "Jobs" are out there, were the employees and patrons are still friends, (for me) 25 years later?
After 20 years in the Coast Guard, I have had many of my co-workers tell me that they had wished that they had the friendship of MOTOR CITY and FRIENDS!
I started out as one of Uncle Joe's Helpers. While helping out at the Michael Quatro concert, I met this heavy bearded DJ named Steve. Steve took me under his wing. A few months later Terri asked me if I wanted a job, and here I am!
My first week was a real test. I worked the skate rental Friday, Saturday and Sunday! Peeeeeehhhheeewwwww! Then on Monday, I came in and help shovel urine soaked dirt from the men's bathroom because of a leak! Believe me, it looked, and smelled, like shit! But I did my job. After a while, Eddie moved me to the soundbooth, and that's where I introduced Punk Rock, hence my nickname... Punker, which Eddie and Linda still calls me (I don't think that Eddie still knows what my first name is!)
They threw me one hell of a going away party at Motor City when I joined the Coast Guard. I still have my jackets, t-shirts and polos, even though I can't fit in them anymore!
What Can I say about Motor City?
