Steve & Marge (Salsgiver) Schang III Brief Family History

I started skating at Motor City in the early 1960’s, Friday, Saturday nights, Saturday
And Sunday Afternoons. I started work at Motor City on April 2nd, 1965. I worked/skated at Motor City until Del Woods & me joined the Air Force, we left on February of 1969. After basic training, and school, I was sent to Lajes Field, Azores (Portugal). While I was there I started skating/working at the roller rink they had on the base, I met Marge & her family while I was there. We dated for a year, and then we were married on the island. My daughter Michelle was also born on the island.
When my time was over with the Air Force, I came back to Michigan. I started work again at Motor City with Del Woods, John and George Wojtuniecki. Skated in the last skating show in 1973. I worked on and off at Motor City until it was tore down in 1986.

Marge and me, & Michelle lived in an apartment on 13 & Utica Road (Roseville) for a year, when we first came back from the Azores. Then we moved into a house on Jewett & Van Dyke (Warren). Then in 1975, my son Matt was born. We stayed on Jewett for 5 yrs. Then in 1979 we moved to Sterling Hts, Parliament Drive & Dequindre and this is where we are still living. We enjoy the neighborhood, and the distance is not far for me and Marge to go work.

I work at Warren Truck Assembly Plant (DaimlerChrysler), MQAS Doc Administrator, dealing with ISO 90001 & 14001 documentation.
Marge works at 5th3rd Bank, in the construction loan department.
Michelle, who is 34 yrs old, is still looking for Mr Right. She works at Point Benefit Corporation.
Matt just turned 30 yrs old. He works for International Wire & Cable Company, he is married to Shelley (Tyll) for the past 6 yrs, and they have two children Justin who is 4 yrs old and Jacob who is 2 yrs old.

I started work on the Warren Historical Society/Motor City Project two years ago with Tony Guarnieri. I have enjoyed working on the project, and hopefully more people from the 1960’s era will send in their information.
