I have recently purchased an old violin - the label inside reads "Andreas Guarnerius fecit Cremona
Sub titulo Santa Teresia 1792" (The 92 is hand-written) After doing some research on Guarnerius I found out that he died in 1698 so it is obviously a fake, but I was wandering why somebody faking a guarnerius would put on a date nearly 100 years after his death - can anyone help?

P.s on the back there are the letters A and S on either side of a cross on the inside of a circle. Does anyone know of a maker who uses this symbol? Thanks
