I’ve been searching for a new violin for months now- ever since the violin I grew up with collapsed and had to be scraped. However, I think I might have found my match. Only a few things concern me. First, it has a metal tailpiece with four built-in tuners (like one you might find on a student violin) and a very warped bridge. Although these parts could be replaced, I’m wondering why the seller didn’t think the violin was worthy of better fittings. The other thing that is worrysome is its condition. The edges are beaten up, there is a very visible rough spot on the front, and back shows lots of wear (where it rests on your shoulder). However, its sound is extremely impressive. It has the most brilliant highs and most impressive mid-tones I’ve ever heard, and overall a very natural, clear, beatiful tone. Should I go ahead and snatch it up? Would any of this concern you? The seller is asking 3500 US (which seems an absolute steal).
